Japan 2025
Two weeks exploring Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka
Japan had been on my list for years, and it did not disappoint. Two weeks split between Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka gave me a taste of both the ultra-modern and deeply traditional sides of the country.
Tokyo
The city is overwhelming in the best way. Shibuya crossing alone could keep you entertained for hours just watching the choreographed chaos. I stayed in Shinjuku and spent most evenings wandering the neon-lit backstreets finding tiny ramen shops and hidden bars.
Kyoto
A complete contrast to Tokyo. The temples and shrines here feel timeless. Waking up early to beat the crowds at Fushimi Inari was worth it—walking through thousands of vermillion torii gates in near silence as the morning fog lifted was one of those moments you don’t forget.
Osaka
Osaka is where you go to eat. Takoyaki, okonomiyaki, kushikatsu—I tried it all. The city has a grittier, more laid-back energy than Tokyo. Dotonbori at night is sensory overload in the best possible way.
Already planning the next trip to explore Hokkaido and the Japanese Alps.
